Marilyn Monroe

Happy Halloween! I have not posted any outfits since Monday which seems like so long ago but I got a bit sick which kept me home most of the time. I also did not get to show you the Flapper Girl costume I made. I will be sharing that look tomorrow so keep a look out for it I promise you will love it :)

I have not dressed up in years but I was more in the Halloween spirit this year since we took out our princess dressed as Minnie Mouse. When I got home, I did not want to take the wig off. It is so fun and I could get used to this style! The only thing I purchased for this costume was the wig and heels (both also for the flapper girl costume). Other than that I had a few things in my wardrobe and accessories that looked similar to something Marilyn Monroe would wear. I hope you liked this look as much as I did! Good night gals.

Weekend Outfits

Happy Monday! I hope you enjoyed your weekend. Today I am sharing Saturday and Sundays outfits. On both looks, I am wearing skirts that I found at Ross with incredibly low prices. Can you believe that I purchased both for $20.00?! Ross is not kidding when they say you can "Dress for Less" with unbeatable prices.

I kept Saturdays outfit simple and chic in white and black with a deep red lip for a pop of color. The top  features faux-leather sleeves and neckline so I avoided a necklace to reveal this simple yet chic detail. Peplum top, skirts, dresses, etc. are a must in my closet. This design creates curves while slimming the mid section if worn at the smallest part of your waist. I can picture this outfit appropriate for the office (substituting the shoes for low pointed toe heels) and even church (lowering the skirt so it hits rights at the knee). Wearing skirts always makes me feel more feminine and sophisticated so I wore a skirt again on Sunday.

On Sunday I took a risk and wore an asymmetrical skirt with a daring cutout for the first time. I tried many tops on such as button ups and basic shirt which looked good but I thought this velour crop top in black looked great. I was actually going to wear the same black heels from Saturday, but I came across last years cognac leather jacket which I happened to have shoes that matched perfectly with it. Instead of going for a black handbag, I opted for a dark toned faux-leather clutch to match my lips.

If I had to choose between both looks, Sundays outfit would be my favorite since I tried something new. Which look is your favorite, Saturday in Houndstooth or Asymmetrical Sunday?

Thank you for visiting my blog. Enjoy the rest of the week!

Casual Cowgirl

Happy Friday! Today was another beautiful and sunny day, which made it perfect to take a walk around the park. Here is round two of styling my cowgirl boots paired with shorts for this fall. This time I wore a chunky color-block knit sweater and added the same crossbody that I matched on my "Cowgirl" post. I just love how these boots and bag complement each other. So until I find another favorite western bag, I will continue to match this one with my cowgirl boots.

I recently found this knit sweater at my local Ross for only $14.99, which is such a great deal!  In my fashionista point of view, this sweater is great for those type of days where your in a hurry or  you just want something cozy. You can just throw on light washed jeans, boots and your good to go.

I feel that this look would have been complete if only I had a lipstick or lipgloss that matched the salmon line on the sweater. I actually mixed 3 different lipsticks just to achieve the peachy tone on my lips. As you can tell, I did not wear any type of jewelry because I was going for a casual look that did not take the attention away from the captivating colors on the sweater.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a safe and happy weekend!

Leather Vest and Vintage Flowers

Happy Thursday! The weather is a bit crazy here in Dallas. It seems like the temperature went down and now back up again when we should be having colder weather. I am definitely taking advantage by still wearing summer clothes and adding a few fall elements. I love the print of the jeans I am wearing today. They give off a vintage look and I decided to wear an olive green top to bring out an unexpected color from the jeans. I was going to go for a soft pink top for a feminine look but instead added a darker color for some versatility. I matched a faux-leather vest (previously a jacket) to my handbag and shoes to brighten up my look on this beautiful sunny day.

Quick DIY: If you have an old faux-leather jacket you no longer wear because your bored of it or whatever the reason may be, you can take some scissors and transform it into a leather vest. I am using a very old faux-leather jacket (I would not use a real leather jacket for this project) that had one sleeve in a pretty bad condition and the stains did not want to come off. I really wanted to wear it and did not own any leather vests so I decided to cut the sleeves out and it came out perfect. I carefully cut the sleeves right next to the shoulder seam. In less than 5 minutes I updated an old jacket into a vest that I will be wearing more often. I can see myself wearing this vest with so many outfits. Remember ladies, leather is back this fall/winter!

Thank you for visiting my blog and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Checkers

Happy Tuesday!  About 2 weeks ago I saw a gorgeous midi pencil skirt in a checkered print at Forever21 which helped me rediscover this print. I had completely forgot about this print since I do not own any clothing or accessories with checkers. Black and white is the hottest trend at the time, how could I have forgotten the existence of checkers? The last time I remember being amazed by how chic this print can actually look was on the Louis Vuitton SS2013 fashion show where even the runway was checkered.

This morning I felt like something was missing from the plain outfit I put together. Wearing a white cropped top, red jeans and black accessories only did not convince me. I needed a print to go along with these basic pieces. I was feeling a bit creative so I layered this square knitted cover up over the white top to achieve the checkers effect. What do you gals think?

Thank you for visiting my fashion blog! Enjoy the rest of this beautiful day!

Layering

Happy early Monday! It is 1:00 am and I am exhausted but I decided to share Sundays outfit before heading to bed. Yesterday my family and I decided to go to the fair again. Before we headed out, I was able to take a few quick pictures of what I wore. At the last minute, I switched up my boots for brown knee-high motorcycle boots because I had a feeling I was not going to make it in heels today. I was right because we did so much walking! We actually got home at almost midnight so I am glad I changed boots at the last minute.

You can definitely tell I did plenty of layering on this outfit. I put my outfit together around this yellow cardigan and decided to keep the rest of the outfit in neutral colors. At first I wanted to wear the shorts with the over the knee socks and boots paired with this bright color since it was pretty sunny. However, I knew that by 6 or 7 the temperature would begin to drop so I just added brown tights under my shorts. The outfit actually looked better with the brown boots because it toned down the colors so it won't look as I layered too many pieces.

I better get off to sleep now. Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the rest of your week!

Blue Blush

Happy Saturday! I hope you all are having a great weekend. I recently found this dress so I did not get to wear it during the summer to fully expose the back cutout therefore I added a jacket.  I did not put much thought to todays look. I actually found the dress and scarf on the same day in the same store. I found the dress first then this splendid scarf. Once I saw the beautiful print on the scarf with hints of pink I knew I had to pair it with the dress somehow. At the time so many ideas came to my head. Pulling a Rihanna by wearing it as a headband over an up do crossed my mind but today I decided to wear it the traditional way.

As I mentioned in my previous post, my current favorite trend is wearing royal blue. Hints of this color in my accessories took this outfit to the next level by transforming a nighttime dress to a chic and casual daytime dress. These particular loafers caught my attention, not only for the color, but for the rhinestones in the front that were added in the same tone making them easier to match. The denim jacket I am wearing also has blue rhinestones on the pockets which I thought looked perfect together.

Thank you for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Royal Blue

Happy Friday! This morning I went out to do some shopping so I went for something more casual. I have been waiting to wear this houndstooth cardigan that I purchased over 2 years and since the houndstooth print is back I decided to take it out today. My hair was not cooperating this morning so I just threw on this white knit beanie. I kept accessories simple by just wearing my favorite necklace at the moment that features black faux leather trim around the chain.

I am currently obsessed with royal blue. This color was used by almost every fashion designer on the runway for fall/winter in a creative and captivating way. Not only does this color look sensational on clothing but it also looks amazing when used as a subtle eyelid color or a dramatic smokey eye. I can just go on and on about my sudden craze for this color but I will stop here as I plan on wearing it again tomorrow ;)

Fall Hues

Happy Thursday! Today I mixed different brown tones to complement my olive green skinny jeans. The colors of the leopard scarf tied the outfit together while adding a print to these basic pieces.

Off the subject short story: I purchased "Paint the Town" nail polish by Maybelline which I was super excited about since it is perfect for the fall. I decided to start with my pedicure first and do a few things around the house while they dried. That is when my 14 month old reached for the nail polish and decided to play with it by banging it on the floor - the bottle was closed at the time. As I reached to get it from her,  she threw it against the wall and it broke spilling it all over the place. I wasn't even able to apply a second coat to my toes or even to my fingernails. I was just glad the polish came off my floor. Here is the story behind my mismatched nails : )

Now to continue with my OOTD...

I did minor color blocking with dark hues, which is not really a look that I go for. I usually color block with fun and vibrant tones but summer is over so time to wear fall colors. I am really loving my heels! The cognac looks amazing on such a simple heel. I know I will be wearing these plenty of times on warmer days during this fall. I did not want to go for an all black outfit with brown so I avoided black bottoms and I also did not want to do blue jeans since it simply did not look well put together. Therefore, I wore my new olive green skinny jeans to add some interest to the look.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day!

Combat Plaid

Happy Monday! Today's outfit was cool and casual. The day started off gloomy and rainy so I finally able to wear my new combat boots.

As always, I have an outfit in mind but end up changing or adding pieces to it at the last minute. I started off with only the plaid button up top and boots for a simple and laid back outfit. To soften up the though look given off by my boots, I layered a crochet top in aqua which also brightens up the dark color palette on my shirt. To protect my hair from frizzing in the rain I added a brown beanie and a circle scarf in a lighter color for warmth. That completes this easy outfit.

Enjoy the rest of your week!
